>Gangaur is a significant festival of Jaipur, in particular meant for that ladies. Gangaur festival is broadly acclaimed and celebrated throughout the state of Rajasthan. The phrase Gangaur is derived from two words, 'Gan' and 'Gauri' which are synonyms of 'Siva' and his consort 'Parvati' respectively. The festival of Gangaur starts using the subsequent day of Holi and persists for about two weeks. Gangaur is celebrated in the honor of Goddess Gauri, who is considered as the symbol of virtue, devotion, fertility along with a ideal married lady.Gangaur Festival

The womenfolk of Rajasthan worship Gauri with all of the implies of devotion. The married women worship Gauri for your well-being of their husband, whilst the unmarried women worship the goddess to obtain the husband of their selection. The festival starts with the custom of gathering ashes from your Holi Fire and burying the seeds of barley in it. Following it, the seeds are watered every day awaiting the germination.

The ceremony takes location with the praiseful songs for Isar (Siva) and Gauri. The ladies apply henna on their hands to celebrate the auspicious festival. They carry painted matkas (drinking water pots) on their heads. They also make images of Gauri and Isar with clay. To the seventh night following Holi, unmarried girls assemble and take out a procession with 'Ghudlia' (an earthen pot with holes about along with a lamp within) on their heads. The ceremony continues to get a fortnight. The ladies are gifted with sweets, ghee and money through the elders.

Throughout the last days of your festival, the celebration reaches to its height. To the ultimate day, lively pictures of Gauri are taken out in procession escorted by traditionally dressed camels, bullock carts, horses and elephants. Songs are sung about the departure of Gauri to her husband's home. The procession is wrapped up using the breaking of pots and throwing the trash into a tank or pond.
